A Level Maths Tutor in Dubai
A Level Mathematics is a big step up from IGCSE. The course is split into strands, usually pure mathematics, mechanics and statistics, and the way these are combined into papers depends on your board and specification (Cambridge International A Level, Pearson Edexcel International A Level, AQA A Level or OxfordAQA International A Level). Knowing exactly which papers you are sitting is the first thing we establish.
How we help
Pure mathematics is the foundation
Pure maths carries the most weight and underpins everything else: algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry, differentiation and integration. Students who struggle in mechanics and statistics often have gaps in pure first, so we check the algebra before the topic.
Mechanics and statistics
Mechanics is about modelling: drawing a clear force diagram, choosing a method and interpreting the answer in context. Statistics is about interpreting and communicating, including distributions, sampling and hypothesis testing. Both ask for words as well as numbers, and students often lose marks for answers that are correct but not in context.
AS or full A Level?
Some students sit AS in Year 12 and the A2 papers in Year 13; others sit all papers at the end. We adjust the plan to your school’s entry pattern and your exam dates, and we plan retakes where a student is improving a grade.
University requirements
Courses such as engineering, economics, computer science and the sciences often ask for specific A Level Maths grades. Check the entry requirements of your target courses early and tell us your target so we plan backwards from it.
Working with your school
Tutors follow your school’s scheme of work, so sessions support what is taught in class instead of competing with it. If your teacher has flagged weak areas from a mock exam, share them and we will start there.
Schools our students come from
Our students study at many of Dubai’s leading schools, following the IGCSE, A Level and IB Diploma programmes. We are an independent tutoring service and are not affiliated with any school.
What to expect
- Topic diagnostic, then a gap list ranked by marks available.
- Worked examples first, then the student’s own attempts, then correction.
- Regular timed questions by topic, then full papers.
- An error log so the same mistake is not repeated.
- Weeks 1-2: algebra and functions refresh, diagnostic on all strands.
- Weeks 3-6: calculus and trigonometry in depth, with weekly timed questions.
- Weeks 7-8: mechanics and statistics modelling questions.
- Weeks 9-10: full papers under timed conditions and error review.
- Dropping negative signs in differentiation and integration.
- Forgetting constants of integration and domain restrictions.
- Choosing the wrong model in mechanics and not stating assumptions.
